Therapeutic Food Pantry Manager

Dana-Farber has an exciting opening for a Manager for the Therapeutic Food Pantry. Reporting to the Director of Patient Assistance Programs, the Manager of the Therapeutic Food Pantry will help design, execute, and manage all Therapeutic Food Pantry services and activities – beginning with the pediatric pilot launch and continuing with the complete rollout to the entire Longwood and Chestnut Hill patient community and future regional campuses, as resources allow. The Manager will institute computerized tracking of patients for each clinical area, inventory control, storage, sanitation, purchasing/receiving, and dispensing of all food for the food pantry. The Manager will be responsible for all budgets, volunteers, and an app for ordering and pick-up or delivery of groceries. The position will facilitate stakeholder meetings and will collaborate with a nutrition consultant on food inventory. The Manager will serve as liaison to the Greater Boston Food Bank and any other external foundations, organizations, and vendors that support the Food Pantry.
**Location: Longwood Medical. The position is 100% on-site.**

+ Manages all Therapeutic Food Pantry operations, including oversight of ordering and distribution of food and supplies, donations and community closet, computerized business transactions and recordkeeping, and liaising with external partners.
+ Supervises and trains Therapeutic Food Pantry staff and volunteers. Ensures staff and volunteers select appropriate items for a variety of dietary restrictions and requirements.
+ Manages the agreements and contracts with the Greater Boston Food Bank and additional vendors on behalf of the hospital.
+ Liaises with community representatives and as a resource to clinic physicians and healthcare institutions across the country.
+ In conjunction with others, develops digital app for the purpose of grocery ordering and delivery.
+ Responsible for maintaining Therapeutic Food Pantry budgets and monthly reporting.
+ Collaborates with Volunteer Services to coordinate volunteer opportunities.
+ Hosts internal and external visitors, as needed.
+ Promotes the Therapeutic Food Pantry to the media (television, radio, etc.).
+ Facilitates efforts in policy development and implementation.
+ Ensures client deliveries adhere to dietary prescriptions.
+ Ensures adherence to food code safety requirements.
+ Performs other duties, as assigned.
**Supervisory Responsibilities:**
+ Directly supervises Therapeutic Food Pantry staff and volunteers.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ High school diploma or GED required
+ 5 years of experience in food handling and safety and/or inventory and retail management required.
+ Supervisory experience of employees or volunteers required.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree preferred.
+ Program management in the non-profit or healthcare sector preferred.
+ ServSafe certification preferred.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:**
+ Understanding of food handling and safety.
+ Knowledge of inventory and retail management.
+ Understanding of digital apps such as Epic, Excel, and Word.
+ Understanding of and sensitivity to the challenges of food insecurity.
+ Ability to work and network with community programs supporting diverse populations.
+ Ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
+ Ability to read and produce budgetary and finance reports.
+ Excellent communication and organizational skills.
+ Ability to complete computerized accounting procedures.
+ Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders.
+ Strong writing skills.
+ Excellent interpersonal skills and patience.
+ Commitment to principles of equity, inclusion, and diversity.
+ Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not essential.
