Job Title: Therapist, Adolescent Portable Therapy  

 

Job Summary: 

CASES is seeking a compassionate and field-based Therapist to join our Adolescent Portable Therapy (APT) team, providing individual and family therapy to youth and families in their homes and communities. The Therapist role involves conducting trauma-informed assessments, developing treatment plans, and offering flexible session times, including evenings. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will manage crises as needed, coordinate care with internal and external partners, and support youth in achieving behavioral and legal system goals. You’ll participate in regular supervision and complete timely documentation while delivering culturally responsive, family-centered care. 

The Education, Career and Enrichment department at CASES specializes in serving youth and young adults impacted by the criminal legal system. This position serves youth and young adults post disposition in a criminal matter. Young people and families will receive intensive services including weekly in-home family therapy and weekly coaching.

Salary: The salary for the Therapist role is $68,959.00 per year. 

Shift Hours: The Therapist position is full-time working Monday through Friday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm with flexibility required.   

Location Address: 4 West 125th Street, New York, N.Y. 10027 with community-based travel to all 5 boroughs.  

Workplace Flexibility: Flexible (for roles that have days that can be partially remote, e.g., being able to draft notes at home after going to the office/community in the morning). Will include field work to all 5 boroughs.  

 

What you will be doing:  

Conduct individual and family therapy sessions.  All treatment sessions occur in the home/community, requiring travel to meet the needs of the family. Assess program participants using validated assessments to inform individual treatment planning and service delivery; also screen participants for signs of symptoms and exposure to trauma using standardized trauma screening instruments. Attend weekly supervision, clinical case conferencing and team meetings.Coordinate with all team members to ensure that participants are meeting program goals and obtaining necessary services. Manage crises as they come up  Be available to conduct sessions conveniently to families which could include evenings. Complete charting using database following program standards and timelines. Provide culturally competent services in accordance with CASES policies and practice. Develop and maintain strategic alliances with community providers and probation. Help ensure we maintain a safe working environment by reporting any hazards or unsafe conditions, e.g., liquid spill in the hallway, to the appropriate facilities staff member or supervisor. 

 

 What we are looking for:  

Licensed master's degree in social work or Mental Health Counseling and some experience with family counseling. Thorough understanding of a strengths-based youth development approach to working with young people.Flexible scheduling required, as sessions occur at times convenient to participants and their families.Demonstrated ability to engage and motivate youth.Experience serving youth, out-of-school youth, or youth involved in the criminal legal system preferred. Bilingual Spanish/English highly preferred. Highly organized and self-motivated and comfortable working autonomously.Proficient in computers.
