Position Summary:
The staff respiratory therapist is responsible for the pulmonary care of those patients assigned to them. This care will include initiation and implementation of a pulmonary care plan, with the supervision of or in consultation with a physician. Aspects of care provided include assessments, diagnostics, treatment, education, and discharge planning. The advanced credential, RRT is required to fulfill the special roles of bronchoscopy support, pulmonary diagnostics, and pulmonary rehab.
Based in the Pulmonary & Sleep Clinic, on the Methodist hospital campus in St Louis Park, our Pulmonary Function Lab team is an incredibly dynamic, disciplined, forward thinking, busy & fun group of people!
This position offers the chance to work directly with not only the team of RTs, but also the nurses & medical assistants, medical providers, & sleep educators. The team works with 17 pulmonary providers, both physicians & NP's, & will see on average 8 patients per lab, per day.
There are 7 pulmonary function testing labs, 4 of those labs are situated in the pulmonary & sleep clinic here in St Louis Park, the 5th lab, here in SLP, which is a negative flow room, is on a different floor and there is also a PFT lab situated in 2 of our offsite clinics, Burnsville and Maple Grove, which are staffed from the schedule here in SLP.
The RTs are performing all types of breathing tests, ex. full PFT's, Spiro, Spiro/DLCO, methacholine challenges, qualifying O2 walks, sputum induction & arterial blood gases. There are also 2 RT's who perform cardiac stress testing (CPX).
The team works well as a team, although this position does offer the opportunity of working with a lot of autonomy, multi-tasking & using critical thinking skills.
We can definitely boast longevity in the team with our team lead RT having been with clinic for over 30 years! This is a very strong team, looking for an equally strong candidate to join us & help us continue to grow the department.
Full orientation & training will be provided for all aspects of the RT position within the lab.
Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 4 days per week (one weekday off, based on clinic needs) Shift times: Either 7:00 AM-3:30 PM or 7:30 AM-4:00 PM (dependent on clinic needs)Required Qualifications:
Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. RRT credential (within 3 years of hire) MN Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) registration, required. Must have BLS and ACLS certification (within 6 months of hire) Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.Preferred Qualifications:
