Therapy Preceptor - Full Time
Role and Responsibilities The primary function of the Therapy Preceptor is to instruct and guide HCRs new hires of Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and Speech Therapist personnel in providing high-quality therapeutic services. The Therapy Preceptors main goal is to assist in the learning process during the orientation period of all new hires, or current employees needing further training, in the essential roles and responsibilities of a Therapist at HCR. Essential Functions + Responsible for in-home clinical orientation for new employees or current employees needing assistance, by providing 1:1 teaching and modeling of job duties through co-visits. + Evaluate and document skill performance of preceptee to determine skill competency. + Coordinate with new clinical employees through orientation period to provide mentoring, training and advocacy. + Participate in case conference/staff meetings with preceptee and manager weekly, during orientation period. + With the assistance of internal clinical support staff, oversee the delegation of assignments to staff according to licensure, training, orientation and demonstrated skills. + Instruct therapy and other staff in providing quality service and maintaining standards, including in-home visits to direct and evaluate patient care. + Assist with training and education with a gradual progression through orientation process with new hire in order to manage a full case load. + Maintain therapy knowledge base to be current with accepted community standards and best practice. + Assist the Clinical Manager to identify ongoing educational needs for therapy staff and facilitate appropriate educational opportunities. + Teach and instruct on when to make appropriate consult with Home Care Coordinators (HCCs) regarding referrals or appropriateness for home care. + Instruct new therapy or nursing hires on time management and scheduling of client care with gradual progression to independence on their own throughout the orientation process. + Instruction and training on utilization of devices (smartphone or tablet) including, but not limited to, clinical visits with patients and NVA. + Perform initial supervisory visit of new hire within the orientation visit with necessary follow-up supervision required as needed during visits in order to ensure proper techniques and HCR protocols are followed. + Education and training on HCR policies, procedures and protocols. + Other duties as assigned.
