Job Description:
The Thermal Analyst will work with the thermal-hydraulics group to conduct mechanical design and analysis of spent nuclear fuel storage and transportation casks, high-density spent nuclear fuel storage racks, Small Modular Reactor (SMR) thermal-hydraulic evaluations, and heat exchangers.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:Conduct thermal performance evaluations of spent fuel casks and spent fuel pools;Conduct design and performance evaluations of heat exchangers; Prepare and review licensing reports, calculation reports, and computer code validations;Build 3D thermal models of various dry storage systems; andParticipate in meetings with clients and government regulators. ~10% domestic travel required. Minimum Requirements:Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 1 year of experience working in any engineering/engineer trainee position that utilized computer-aided engineering (CAE) simulations.Experience with/demonstrated knowledge of the following: Fluid mechanics and heat transfer; Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and turbulent flow analysis; Thermal systems design analysis. Employer will accept any level experience, knowledge, or proficiency in the skills listed.Knowledge may be gained through course work/research projects.
