Thermal Analyst

Job Description:
The Thermal Analyst will work with the thermal-hydraulics group to conduct mechanical design and analysis of spent nuclear fuel storage and transportation casks, high-density spent nuclear fuel storage racks, Small Modular Reactor (SMR) thermal-hydraulic evaluations, and heat exchangers.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
+ Conduct thermal performance evaluations of spent fuel casks and spent fuel pools;
+ Conduct design and performance evaluations of heat exchangers;
+ Prepare and review licensing reports, calculation reports, and computer code validations;
+ Build 3D thermal models of various dry storage systems; and
+ Participate in meetings with clients and government regulators.
+ ~10% domestic travel required.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field;
+ 1 year of experience working in any engineering/engineer trainee position that utilized computer-aided engineering (CAE) simulations.
+ Experience with/demonstrated knowledge of the following:
+ Fluid mechanics and heat transfer;
+ Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and turbulent flow analysis;
+ Thermal systems design analysis.
+ Employer will accept any level experience, knowledge, or proficiency in the skills listed.
+ Knowledge may be gained through course work/research projects.
