As a technical leader for thermal-fluidics subsystems, you will drive subsystem development and ensure high-quality designs within a global engineering organization. You will allocate resources, oversee project deliverables, and ensure compliance with established policies and verification procedures. Your role includes coordinating across multidisciplinary teams, leading root cause analysis, and driving continuous improvement in design optimization.
You will be reporting to the Director of Thermal and Fluidics in the mechanical engineering team. Any industry experience is welcome to apply, but most common applicants are from medical, automotive, aerospace, and the semiconductor industries.You will drive sub-system development and provide technical leadership for the thermal-fluidics subsystems within the global engineering organization. You will be responsible for the quality of designs and work delivered to the sub-system and integration teams.You will schedule resources on all approved projects with the required capacity and skillsets needed to develop our next generation portfolio of productsYou will participate in expectation setting, performance reviews, training and development plans, budgeting, resourcing, etc.You will ensure all project deliverables are in conformance with established policies and proceduresYou will lead technical and root cause problem solving by applying concepts, techniques and process’ within the scope of thermal-fluidics subsystems.You will drive compliance of all verification and testing procedures within project deliverablesYou will constantly coordinate activities within a complex organization of sub-system teams and functions including electrical, systems, reliability, software, firmware, etcYou will lead continuous improvement and design optimization effortsYou will make personnel changes in response to sub-system long range planning sessionsYou will create procedural synergies across multiple sites and be required to travel across them on occasion (Tarrytown NY, Flanders NJ, Glasgow DE). 

Your expertise

You possess expertise in thermal-fluidic concepts, components, pumps, heat exchangers, and vacuum engineering for highly complex instrumentation and equipment.You have a solid grasp of both fluid dynamic and thermal engineering principles.You are knowledgeable about precision fluid transfer.  You have extensive design experience with sensing hardware, including thermistors and pressure transducers.You will understand the value of simulation and how to close simulation gaps by defining experiments. You will have an extensive history of building best practices in designs, instrumentation, lab procedures, analytical tools, and documentationYou will have experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, and uncertainty analysisYou have a strong history of building effective engineering teams and organizational structuresYou can apply a systems mindset to team designsYou will have built a successful network of outsource design partnersYou will have a history of building intellectual property and innovationYou will have a successful track record to new product development projectsYou will have exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologiesYou will have proficiency in 3D CAD and PLM systemsYou will have working knowledge of DfSS methodologiesYou will have a strong understanding of manufacturing methods including plastic injection molding, sheet metal, castings, machining, etc.

Required skills and education to have for the success of this role

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, thermal-fluidic sciences (master’s preferred).10-15+ years’ experience with the design and development of complex instrumentation.  Medical device preferred but not required.  Willing to consider other regulated industries.Informal or formal leadership experience a plus but not necessary.  Equivalent project management experience within small to mid-sized engineering teams should apply. Good communication skills, written and oral at all levels of complex organizationsWork Authorization: Permanent work authorization in the U.S. is required.

The base pay range for this position is

Min $114,400 - Max $171,600

Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Siemens Healthineers offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay.
