Summary
Reporting to the Thermal Processing Manager, this role is specifically involved in quality assurance of the business with emphasis on preservation processes – sterilisation and pasteurisation.
About the Role:
Working with the product development team to develop sterilisation processes for new canned and pouch products
Working with the operations team to resolve processing issues when required.
Product testing for sterilisation processing adequacy in canned and pouch foods.
Assistance with product release decisions assistance where thermal processing and food
safety input is required.
Routine validations of thermally processed foods – both new and existing.
Investigations into related technical issues.
Responsibilities in factory quality assurance systems
Involvement and maintenance of specialised equipment, software, procedures, databases.
Mathematical modelling of thermal processes using software
Practical knowledge and training and involvement in double seaming and seam evaluation.
About You:
Good interpersonal skills
Ability to grasp technical concepts and have strong knowledge of thermal processes
Decision making ability on product quality
Experience with quality risk assessment
High level of computer literacy
High level of personal integrity and sense of right and wrong
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Thermal
Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Approved Persons Qualification for Thermal Processing of Low Acid Foods required ideally
3-5 years of experience in thermal process engineering or a related field, ideally in food processing,
