Purpose:
This position will provide an individual with the ability to plan and execute programs and projects and provide innovative leadership to activities within the steel processing areas. The position will analyze Thermal Treat efficiency and accuracy and provide guidance for Supervision during normal and off-shift operations. They will provide technical analysis related to quality and efficiency for sustainable thermal treat process improvements. This position is designed to be a leadership development role.
Responsibilities:
Provide specialized, multi-discipline technical knowledge of thermal treat operations to maximize the cash flow and profit potential of the Gambrinus Steel Plant. Responsible for continuous improvement of Safety, Quality Management, Process Development, Financial Management, and New Product Development. Lead safety initiatives and ensure tactics are in place to drive leading indicators Support quality, rework, and yield process improvement analysis efforts and solution implementation. Communicate with Production Planning to optimize lineups based on setups, efficiency, asset reliability, and product quality. Drive asset utilization and OEE. Daily interaction with maintenance team. Participation in down day and annual outage planning. Ensure purchasing policies are followed. Participate and support after action reviews and implement industry best practices. Assemble and lead cross-functional teams and direct their efforts to advance continuous improvement projects quickly and effectively. Utilize proper project management techniques to deliver positive results on-time and within budget Plan repairs and continuous improvement activities to maintain equipment availability at the highest level. Arrange, develop, and provide training as required. Lead and assist in departmental quality, safety, and reliability investigations using Cause Map/Root Cause methodology. Develop, manage, and lead capital projects. Tooling inventory, best practices, vendor interaction, and improvements. Understand cultural framework and drive expectations to the team. Serve as the back up to the Unit Manager when needed. Fill in for supervisors as needed.
Technical Skills:
Maximo/SAP/CMMS system Microsoft Office Metallurgical knowledge Strong communication skills
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma with at least 7 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates in a technical field with at least 4 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, continuous improvement, or related field. Bachelors in Engineering or Operations Management with at least 2 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, continuous improvement, or related field. Masters in Engineering, Operations Management, or Business Administration with no experience required.
