Thermo-Forming Technician

 

Job Scope

 

As a Thermoforming Technician or machine operator, your duties involve setting up a machine to create molded plastic pieces. You operate the equipment during a production run and ensure that the resulting pieces meet quality standards. You also make adjustments during production if necessary.

 

Responsibilities: 

Measure and cut raw materials using power saws. Load materials into forming machines, set timers, and operate controls. Observe machines and equipment to ensure proper operation. Move controls to activate and adjust forming machines. Record details of machine malfunctions. Notify other workers of defects and direct them to adjust forming machines. Press buttons to stop machines when processes are complete or when malfunctions are detected. Observe machine operations, control boards, and gauges to detect malfunctions such as clogged bushings and defective binder applicators. Clean and maintain forming machines, using hand tools.

Skills:

Basic Carpentry skills Make accurate and square cuts Understand basic math Be physically able to handle large and bulky materials in a hot environment (working under heat) Experience with power tools Ability to read and interpret blue prints and/or construction drawings. Effectively communicate in both written and verbal formats. High attention to detail. Willingness to learn a valuable skilled trade (building molds and forming plastic)
