Thesis work is an excellent way to get closer to Scania and build relationships for the future. Many of today's employees began their Scania career with their degree project.
The electrical systems within our trucks and buses are growing rapidly in both size and complexity and this includes our many wireless interfaces.
This creates higher demands on our electrical control units and antennas as well as new challenges regarding methods for verifying their robustness.
Background:
Wireless communication systems are integral to modern technology, enabling seamless connectivity across various devices and applications. However, these systems often operate in environments that can significantly impact their performance. Environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and physical obstructions, as well as electrical conditions like voltage fluctuations and electromagnetic interference, can degrade signal quality and reliability.
Understanding how these conditions affect wireless communication is crucial for developing robust systems that can maintain high performance in diverse and challenging settings. This thesis aims to bridge the gap between theoretical performance metrics and real-world application by systematically studying the impact of environmental and electrical stressors on wireless communication systems. The insights gained from this research will contribute to the design of more resilient wireless technologies.
Objective:
The purpose of this thesis work is to investigate the performance of wireless communication systems under various environmental and electrical test conditions. Specifically, the study aims to:
Evaluate Performance Metrics: Assess key performance indicators such as signal strength, data transmission rates, latency, and error rates under different environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity) and electrical conditions (e.g., voltage fluctuations, electromagnetic interference). Identify Challenges: Understand the challenges and limitations that wireless communication systems face in harsh or variable conditions, which are often encountered in real-world applications. Develop Mitigation Strategies: Propose and test strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of these conditions on wireless communication performance, ensuring reliability and efficiency. Contribute to Knowledge: Provide valuable insights and data that can contribute to the broader field of wireless communications, potentially influencing future designs and standards. Practical Applications: Explore practical applications and implications of the findings, such as improving the robustness of wireless systems in industrial, automotive, or aerospace environments.
Job description:
The thesis worker will be responsible for:
Literature Review: Conducting a comprehensive review of existing research and literature related to wireless communication performance under environmental and electrical stress conditions. Experimental Design: Designing and setting up experiments to test wireless communication systems under various controlled environmental and electrical conditions. Data Collection and Analysis: Collecting data from experiments, analyzing the results using appropriate statistical and analytical tools, and interpreting the findings. Reporting: Documenting the research process, results, and conclusions in a detailed thesis report. This includes writing interim reports and presenting findings to the supervising team. Collaboration: Working closely with supervisors, industry partners, and other stakeholders to ensure the research aligns with practical needs and academic standards. Problem-Solving: Identifying any issues that arise during the research and developing solutions to address them. Presentation: Preparing and delivering presentations on the research progress and outcomes to academic and industry audiences.
