Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Clean and Inspect Optics • Cleaning techniques (as outlined in process manual or accepted practice) are followed without any changes • No rejects caused by failure to follow procedures. No operation errors resulting in lost part • Yields meet acceptable department expectations • Advises supervisor or engineer of process problems or issues that are not normal practice • Optics are inspected to quality standards before loading into vacuum chamber • Identification of variables in the process and techniques are reviewed to continuously improve quality and efficiencies Lot preparation and set-up • 1 Proper tools are selected for clear apertures according to standard coating specifications • 2 Double-checks all document information for accuracy. Lot sheet and shop floor tracking is performed accurately with no mistakes • 3 Labeling of tooling and lot traveler sheets with specific information is accomplished • 4 Selects parts for runs using priority sheets, activity information and due dates • 5 Select proper tooling for maximizing run size and efficiency • 6 Qualify tools for defects and cleanliness and notify proper personnel for replacement • 7 Reviews engineering notes for nonstandard specifications and operations requirements Related Tasks • Supports loading and unloading of optical components to coating systems. Provide real-time information and feedback to coating operators for run results • Assists in labeling and proper identification of parts • Able to send all part trays to QA according to proper procedures • Operation of microscope calipers, computer programs and spectrophotometers are understood • Provides support for coating operations as needed • Provides support for training initiatives as needed • Completes all process logs accurately and timely • Communicates problem issues with engineers and supervisors Utility Duties • Minor maintenance is accomplished successfully (changing clean line soaps, refilling solvents, air gun filters, etc.) • Proper cleanroom practices are adhered to (proper dress, wiping down work areas) • Minor troubleshooting of process equipment, cleaning issues or other concerns are reviewed to understand the cause • Supports utility functions when necessary Housekeeping and Safety • Maintain a clean and professional work area. Daily cleaning and vacuuming of work area • Follow safety rules without violations. Any safety concerns or issues are reported to supervisor • Works with hazardous and radioactive materials in accordance with department proceduresEducation & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent requiredSkills
• Strong attention to detail and quality • Good manual dexterity skills, comfortable working with small, fragile optics • Basic computer skills and some familiarity working with Excel • Must be team-oriented and self-motivated • Some manufacturing or cleanroom experience preferredWorking Conditions
Clean room environment within manufacturing plant Make-up and perfumes must be minimal while working in clean room to prevent contaminationPhysical Requirements
• Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 25 lbs. • Must be able to work with acids and other toxic chemicals • Long periods of standing and/or walking (3+ hours at a time) Bending, stooping, reaching requiredSafety Requirements
