This truly is a place where we all share a challenger mindset which drives our success. **WHAT YOU WILL DO** - JOB SUMMARY Operates machine to slit continuous lengths of sheet such as homogenized tobacco wrapper and binder, or specialty products into bobbins of specific widths as scheduled. - WHAT YOU WILL DO Sets up both male and female rotary blades on machine shafts per the production schedule 1. Mounts mill rolls and threads material through slitter 2. Uses glue or water to apply strips to the cardboard cores 3. Runs production per the schedule and via PE or supervisor direction 4. Continuously monitors flow of material and tension to maintain manufacturing specifications 5. Disengages rewind shaft and removes finished bobbins 6. Disassembles bobbins of wrapper or binder from mandrels, uses glues or water to apply ends of bobbins, inspects, identifies and labels bobbins 7. Either palletizes bobbins and shrink wraps or places them into cartons, identifies bobbins as to type, weight and size and, if placed in cartons, seals the carton and shrink wraps pallets 8. Weighs full pallets of material 9. Conveys full pallets for storage to cold room or warehouse with either an industrial truck or hand truck 10. Conveys scrap to scrap shredder area 11. Accurately records material details on to pallet forms 12. Prepares identification tags and maintains an inventory of packing materials 13. Notifies supervisor/PE and quality department of unacceptable or questionable material before packing into cartons or scrapping 14. Puts mill rolls in racks 15. Assembles boxes and cartons as required 16. Troubleshoots and communicates machine or material problems to supervisor/PE or Quality Department 17. Performs autonomous maintenance on slitting machine 18. Accurately records all required performance metric data 19. Accurately reads all measuring devices (calibers and micrometers) 20. Conducts 6S audits 21. Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly on a continuous basis 22. Performs duties in a safe manner. Abides by all established safety policies 23. Performs duties within guidelines of Good Food Manufacturing Practices 24. Daily/Weekly/Monthly cleaning as started in SOP’s, Work Instructions and as required by company 25. Performs other duties as required. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:** 1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. Ability to demonstrate predictable, reliable, and timely attendance. 3. Ability to follow written and verbal directions and to complete assigned tasks on schedule. 4. Ability to understand and calculate basic math. Add, subtract, multiply, divide, and use a standard calculator. 5. Ability to learn from directions, observations, and mistakes, and apply procedures using good judgment. 6. Ability to work independently or part of a team; ability to interact appropriately with others. 7. Ability to work with supervision, receiving instructions/feedback, coaching/counseling and/or action/discipline. 8. Ability to use basic computer systems and key entry data collectors. **WORK HOURS:** 8 hrs/day (Note: Overtime requirements may change at the employer’s discretion and will be offered/assigned in accordance with labor contract) **QUALIFICATIONS** - REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work with close tolerances and fragile material. Ability to convert length measurements between British Imperial units and Metric units. Must obtain a forklift and sky jack Operator’s Certification.
