Headquartered in Irvine, CA, Shur-Lok manufactures fastening systems with superior locking devices for critical requirements, including engine module assembly, structural assembly, rotor blade attachment, and aircraft engine shaft and spindle applications. Operations at the Irvine location include CNC Machining, CNC Waterjet Cutting, Laser Marking, Heat Treating, NDT, and EDM.
Position Summary:
Level Two: Level two thread/form roll operators work under minimal supervision to operate and perform basic setups of thread/form roll machines such as feeding systems on Warren, Waterbury, EWM, Roy, Hartford, platforms. Basic familiarity with thread/form roll tooling. This role requires intermediate competencies in print reading and inspection processes, as well as basic trouble shooting. 2+ years of experience.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.Identify parts to the shop traveler ensuring that all prior operations have been completed.Set up, operate, or tend machines to roll steel forming bends, beads, knurls, rolls, or plate or to flatten, temper, or reduce gauge of material according to shop traveler specifications and operation procedures.Adjust machine controls and change tool settings in order to keep dimensions within specified tolerances.Crank machines through cycles, stopping to adjust tool positions and machine controls to ensure specified timing, clearances, and tolerances.Inspect sample work pieces to verify conformance with specifications, using instruments such as gauges, micrometers, and dial indicators.Follow standard operating procedures to check, test, login, logout, and thread roll good quality parts, coordinating with department’s supervisor or lead during the process.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Skills and Experience:
The ability to read and write English.An introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.A basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use.A basic knowledge of machine tools.The ability to interpret written instruction on shop travelers.Capable of setting up and running parts as required.2+ years of experience.Some knowledge of comparator and induction heater preferred but not required.Mathematical Skill– Must have basic Mathematical skills such as Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Measure lengths and distances and calculate areas, volumes, and weights. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.Blueprint Reading & Interpretation– Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret the following reliably: drawing terms; call outs; symbols and/or descriptions; types of lines; front view; side view; top view; section view; types of radii; tolerances (min. and max.); external/internal thread; surface finish; fastener-related specifications.Basic Visual & Dimensional Inspection– Demonstrate the ability to inspect parts reliably using the following tools: caliper (dial and digital); micrometer (stand, blade, and disk); dial drop indicator; test indicator; comparator; pin gage; gage block set; any functional gages applicable to the operator. Must have the ability to use hand tools and measuring instruments.Workmanship –Demonstrate the ability to identify and take appropriate action to prevent, correct, or reject the following conditions on die and tools parts: cracks, nicks, scratches, and dents.Communication –Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with team members to achieve cooperation and assistance to resolve problems and attain maximum productivity.Desired Skills & Education
