**Preferred Skills, Experience, License:** Ten years of experience in a leadership role; experience managing other leaders. Previous hands-on experience as heavy equipment technicians; knowledge of electrical, hydraulics, diesel engines, transmissions. Valid driver's license.
**Tier & Location:** Hiring one Tier Manager for Western Tier and one Tier Manager for Eastern Tier. Candidates for both Tiers may be based out of any U.S. state.
**Travel:** Up to 50%+ travel via air and driving; often, using a rental vehicle. Must be willing to travel to various Market Area sites within Tier and to suppliers/vendors throughout the U.S. and Canada. Most travel will be to heavy equipment maintenance shops within landfills, transfer stations and material recycling facilities (MRF).
**Hybrid:** When not traveling, will have the opportunity to work from home. Must have high speed internet.
**I. Job Summary**
In partnership with Tier and Market Area leadership, responsible for delivering industry leading maintenance performance and asset utilization. Responsible for delivering excellence in cost, equipment availability, asset utilization, shop productivity management and performance improvements and fleet compliance. Works with Tier and Market Area Leadership to implement WM fleet strategy, WM standard processes and best-in-class supplier relationships.
**II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
+ Maintenance Operations Performance
+ Responsible for delivering maintenance performance that meets or exceeds the needs of the business.
+ Responsible for developing and delivering high performance maintenance operations through implementation of WM standards, fleet manager and technician training, best practice application and audit and compliance to WM and regulatory standards.
+ Audits and reports performance at the District and Market Area to Leadership team and coaches MA leadership in the creation of action plans to improve performance of low performing shop(s).
+ Ensures accuracy and compliance with WM maintenance and safety standards and regulatory requirements.
+ Utilization/Asset Management Performance
+ Responsible for delivering year-over-year ROIC improvement, through working in partnership with Group Senior Vice President, Market Area Leadership and Fleet Leadership to increase fleet utilization and optimize fleet capital planning for the Tier. Responsible for effective relocation and disposition of assets. Works in partnership with Fleet Equipment Performance Director on effective acquisition of assets.
+ Ensures compliance of asset strategies to improve utilization, optimize capital spend, and reduce overall maintenance cost.
+ Work with Market Areas to plan and execute the approved fleet plan, including machine replacements and midlife rebuilds, utilizing tools and technology that support condition-based maintenance.
+ Provides guidance and compliance to ensure the correct size and amount of equipment is being utilized at each WM location.
+ Business Partner
+ Responsible for acting as an Advisor to Tier and Market Area Leadership in planning of maintenance budgets, shop/fuel related capital projects, and Market Area Fleet
+ Management hiring and development.
+ Responsible for being a WM leader in cost, productivity management and improvement strategies and techniques that drive profitability. This focus will include all aspects of the waste business touched by maintenance.
+ Act as an advisor to Tier and Market Area leadership for business opportunities/issues, as requested by Tier Leadership.
+ Fleet Leader
+ Responsible for review and advisement of assigned technology initiatives and process improvement projects to drive improved equipment performance or shop productivity.
+ Responsible for implementation and on-going management of Field Fleet management personal development and succession planning.
+ Provides subject matter expertise to Market Area Heavy Equipment Managers to ensure that preventative maintenance processes, rebuilds, and general repairs conform to WM standards.
+ Work with Market Areas and local OEM dealers toward best-in-class relationships, finding resolutions to problem areas, and assisting with alternatives when failures occur.
+ Responsible for review and advisement of assigned technology initiatives and process improvement projects to drive improved equipment performance or shop productivity.
**III. Supervisory Responsibilities**
The highest level of supervisory skills required in this job is the management of supervisory and internal consultant employees. This includes:
+ Indirect supervision of approximately, 8 full-time Market Area Heavy Equipment Managers.
IV. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
+ Education: Bachelor's degree (accredited) in Maintenance Management or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and 4 years or relevant work experience.
+ Experience: Ten years relevant work experience in maintenance management (in addition to education requirement).
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
+ None required.
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
+ Maintenance management experience and supervisory/management skills required
+ Strong interpersonal and relationship skills; organizational and political savvy
+ Analytical and Problem Solving skills
+ Ability to coach others to improved performance
+ Strong project management skills; working knowledge of group infrastructure
+ Experience in leading/motivating large, diverse workforce; must be able to build camaraderie/trust

+ Normal setting for this job is: a combination of shop setting and home office setting.
The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $155K - $180K. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
