**Salary: $53,736/Year**
**This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City’s Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.**

Under general supervision, the class performs the full range of timekeeping duties for sworn and civilian personnel located in either the police districts or in the central administration offices of the Chicago Police Department.
**Essential Duties**
+ Maintains both manual and automated timekeeping records for a large group of sworn and civilian employees, represented by police and non-police collective bargaining agreements, in order to record and track employees’ time and attendance
+ Comfortable using computers. Daily duties include using Microsoft 365 (Excel and Outlook) and proprietary CPD software
+ Excellent communication skills (in-person, email, phone, memos, etc.) explaining CPD timekeeping policy regarding pay, overtime, paid time off, etc.
+ Ability to organize and synthesize large volumes of records, forms, orders, etc.
+ Interprets and applies established timekeeping rules governing the compensation of employees for hours worked based on Federal law, union contracts, departmental general orders and the salary ordinance
+ Records timekeeping data on Time and Attendance Cards for employees working multiple shifts, posting regular and overtime hours worked, compensatory time earned and time off
+ Use math calculation formulas to calculate overtime and paid time off accruals under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
+ On weekly deadlines, completes monthly overtime reports to calculate personnel costs for overtime worked, out of grade worked, holiday pay and buy-back of benefit days, baby furloughs and furloughs
+ Maintains timekeeping records and related support documents
+ Flexibility to adapt to changes in contracts, technology, laws, and administrative policies and procedures.

**Various Locations City Wide**
**SHIFT:** **Monday - Friday**
**HOURS: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Hours may vary depending on location and business need)**
**SALARY:** **$53,736/Yr (Non-negotiable)**

**Qualifications**
Two years of progressively responsible timekeeping or payroll preparation experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
**Selection Criteria**
This position requires applicants to successfully pass a skills assessment. Applicants who successfully pass the skills assessment will be invited to an interview. Test results will be sent out by the Department of Human Resources after the test results have been analyzed and compiled. The interviewed candidate(s) receiving a passing score on the test and possessing the qualifications as determined by the interview will be selected.
**Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following:**
+ Possession of a high school diploma or a General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
+ Previous work experience in a position performing timekeeping and payroll preparation.
+ Previous experience working in a position requiring knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office

**Residency Requirement:** All employees of the City of Chicago must be actual residents of the City of Chicago as outlined in 2-152-050 of the City of Chicago Municipal Code. Proof of residency will be required.
