Technician performs aseptic tissue recovery according to established guidelines and procedures. Responsible for performing all tissue recovery activities with other personnel according to locally established protocols and policies. Is able to aseptically recover or assist with the recovery of postmortem tissues including bone, connective tissue, heart, veins, and skin. Promotes and supports donation, functions in the role as back table &/or dissector, as a Tech III. Collaborates with Recovery Coordinator to provide training of recovery. Become proficient and knowledgeable in all aspects of tissue banking.

Responsibilities Serve as Technician for all tissue recovery activities within the entire service area as a dissector or back table roleProvide call coverage for a minimum of 14-21 days per month.Attains Tech III status; Preceptor.Package tissues and assist in coordinating shipment of tissue and blood to the processing facility.Interact with ME/Coroners, hospital staff and other recovery site personnel with the knowledge to answer general questions about donation.Demonstrate critical thinking skills.Assist in the office performing chart releases.Attend regular scheduled meetings and training sessions.Interact with other recovery teams and hospital staff throughout all stages of donation.Insure collection of all pertinent information regarding procured tissue.Assist with inventory controlAssist in monitoring and containing costs related to recovery.Assist in planning and implementation of technical training program, maintaining training records, periodic competency examinations, and assists with training of per diem candidates.Assists in providing periodic activity reports to Manager or Supervisor as needed.Assist on special projects and perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications 1 year health or Medical/Surgeon background.Understanding of gross human anatomy.Ability to organize and prioritize daily work.Ability to multitask and complete tasks.Good communication skills.Must possess valid driver's license and be able to drive company vans.Required to be on 14-21 days per month, including weekends, holidays, and irregular hours.May be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
