Purpose

Provides leadership and oversight for Retail Banking in the CCA ensuring divisional business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Responsible for execution of regional segment strategies and design in local markets, focusing on end-to-end client experience delivery. Manages local market product platforms and digital performance, including overall accountability for performance measurement and salesforce compensation.

 

 

Accountabilities

Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

Leads CCA Market Personal Banking Client Experience Delivery by overseeing the development and implementation of key initiatives to improve client satisfaction, loyalty, and retention by ensuring that all client interactions and services meet the highest standards of excellence. Leads the collaborations to implement seamless, client-centric experience that supports the bank’s overall retail objectives.

Leads CCA Small Business Client Experience Delivery. Oversees the enhancement and streamlining of the client experience for small business customers, focusing on developing and implementing key initiatives to improve client satisfaction, loyalty, and retention by ensuring that all client interactions and services meet the highest standards of excellence. Ensuring the implementation of a seamless, client-centric experience that supports the bank’s overall retail objectives.

Leads CCA Market Product & Digital Channels Delivery. Overseeing the implementation of innovative digital banking solutions and product offerings, enhancing customer experience, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring the bank’s digital channels are competitive and aligned with the overall strategic goals of IB Retail and the bank.

Leads the CCA Local Market Performance. Oversee the optimization of the performance of the bank’s portfolio by ensuring adequate review of key metrics, identifying trends, and implementation of key initiatives. Ensures that portfolio performance aligns with bank’s objectives, supports decision-making through comprehensive reporting, and drives continuous improvement to enhance financial outcomes and operational efficiency.

 

Oversees CCA Retail & Small Business AML Support, Market Regulatory Operations. Ensures the Alignment of local distribution practices with local market regulatory requirements. Provides oversight in the Caribbean Personal and Small Business (SB) Banking customer KYC/AML activities including onboarding, maintenance, and demarketing processes, ensuring that business strategies, plans, and initiatives are supported in accordance with regulations, internal policies, and procedures related to the Prevention of Money Laundering (AML) in the Caribbean region

Collaborates with Strategy & Performance leader on country-specific metrics to develop an aggregated performance view across IB.

Provides feedback on local market preferences to ensure they are considered in overall product strategy.

Contributes to technology standardization efforts by providing feedback to ensure alignment with local requirements.

Communicates and incorporates the relevant risk appetite statement and risk appetite measures, in alignment with the Bank’s risk culture, into activities so as to:

embed prudent risk taking into day-to-day management, planning and decision-making; implement controls and processes to effectively identify, report and monitor risk; and, ensure timely action is taken to effectively manage and mitigate risks, including prompt escalation of breaches of management limits or risk appetite measures as per established processes.

 

Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education / Experience / Other Information

MBA or equivalent with at least 5 years of senior management experience in the financial sector or a similar industry. Expert knowledge of global Retail and Small Business products and services. Excellent knowledge of Retail Banking’s operational policies and procedures and support areas to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines. Advanced communication skills with the ability to think strategically, focus on the customer and results. Strategic influencing skills to build internal and external strategic relationships. Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills; sound judgment and decision making. Sales management skills: setting goals, monitoring performance, providing performance feedback, modeling sales skills, coaching, advising, etc. Expertise in improving the customer experience, driving engagement/retention/acquisition with a solid understanding of the entire customer lifecycle. Fluency in English and Spanish. High level of responsibility in handling strategic and/or confidential Bank information. As a representative of the Bank, maintains relationships with the authorities, organizations and the community, in general. Interacts with the major clients (or segments) for the purpose of communication and customer service.
