Title I Reading Teacher (0.5 FTE) JobID: 1053 + Position Type: Elementary School Teaching/ Title One Reading Strategist + Date Posted: 1/16/2025 + Location: Longfellow Elementary School    JOB TITLE: Elementary Title I Reading Strategist DEPARTMENT: Elementary- Part Time REPORTS TO: Building Principal BASIC FUNCTION: Prepares lesson plans and intervention aligned to Iowa Core and district-identified priority standards. Instructs students and evaluates progress through common formative and summative assessments. Provides a positive learning climate where students may seek fulfillment of their potential for growth. Promote the overall mission of the school system, and work to maximize the educational opportunities available to each student. SALARY: Commensurate with experience: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Develop and deliver lessons plans related to the Iowa Core Standards and students' individual education goals. 2. Use classroom based assessments, and statewide assessment data to create and maintain an optimal learning environment for individual and small groups of students. 3. Prepare needed instructional materials. 4. Gathers data, evaluates, and participates in a Professional Learning Community that works together to ensure students' success. 5. Evaluate and report student progress toward goals and general academic and behavioral growth according to District policies and practices.. 6. Maintain all required paperwork and submit assignments and reports on-time as directed by District administrators and supervisors. 7. Implement and use classroom management techniques to maintain order, organization, and student safety to ensure a productive learning environment. 8. Implement and use researched-based instructional strategies that motivate students and provide relevancy. 9. Coordinate with classroom teachers on appropriate services to provide to students. 10. Evaluate student performance and achievements in curriculum and activities, making necessary adjustments to meet learning needs. 11. Communicate with students and parents, informing them of evaluation methods and practices, student progress and instructional methods that may further assist students. 12. Pursue ongoing professional growth and development. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES FOR TITLE I READING TEACHERS: + Complete Title I parent/school compact with all parents/guardians of students receiving Title I services. + Invite and encourage all Title I parents/guardians to annual Title I parent night to inform parents/guardians of services provided and parents’ right to be involved. Materials and information will be provided to parents/guardians to help them work with their children to improve achievement. + Title I services are coordinated with regular classroom teachers and schedules. EDUCATION and TRAINING: + Bachelors Degree required + Valid Iowa Teaching License + License Endorsement: K-6 Classroom (K-8 Reading endorsement required for Title I Reading) + Mandatory Reporter: Child and Adult Dependent Abuse certification + OSHA required certificate + Background Check WORKING CONDITIONS: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
