The Tobacco Treatment Specialist will provide nicotine dependence treatment for individuals, group classes and promote the CHNw Nicotine Dependence Program. The candidate for this position must be nicotine free for at least 6 months prior to employment.

Required Certificate/Licensure: (National Tobacco Treatment Specialist) 4 year/ Bachelor's Degree required: Preferred Master's Degree in health related field with minimum of Bachelor's Degree in a health science field. (preferred) 2+ years of experience providing counseling or other direct patient related services required. Previous experience in nicotine dependence and/or motivational interviewing preferred. Clinical Duties: Provide individual nicotine dependence treatment to patients and employees. This includes counseling, nicotine use assessment, treatment planning, and documentation. Plan therapeutic interventions jointly with the patient in accordance with the Nicotine Dependence Program policies. Conduct group nicotine cessation support classes. Promote the patient’s participation in his or her own care to the greatest possible extent. Department Accountabilities: Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-services, projects, committee and community service opportunities as requested or assigned. Must be flexible in schedule of hours worked based on the access needs of the patient population being served. Market the Nicotine Dependence Program within Community Health Network. Assist with program outcome management. Equipment: Uses technology and appropriate software as an aid to management in planning, implementation and monitoring of care, presenting and communicating information. Interpersonal Skills: Holds self and team professionally accountable to the highest standards for clinical and operational objectives. Communication & Relationships: Communicates respectfully, openly, honestly and directly and demonstrates skills in team building. Continually pursues the development of professional relationships within the Network as well as externally that supports the culture of the Community Health Network and the established competencies. Cultural Diversity: Advocates, promotes and practices culturally sensitivity and responsiveness in all day to day interactions. Safety & Compliance: Manages and assesses risk within the areas of responsibility, ensuring adequate measures are in place to protect staff and patients. Reports risk issues to the Compliance Officer. Adheres and promotes adherence to all organizational and network Policies and Procedures.
