Additional information about the company can be found at WhirlpoolCorp.com. **This role in summary** **Employees in the Tool Room will use equipment in the following general categories: various types of grinders, mills, bores, lathes, saws, shears, punches, drills, filers, sanders, drill presses, albor presses, hydraulic presses, polishers, demagnetizers, lifts, hoists, and carriers. Employees will also use a dust collector, rockinizer, and electric heat-treating furnace.** **The Tool Room is an area where many diverse machining and assembly procedures are used. The Tool Room uses many different types of coolants, solvents, and cutting fluids in its daily functions. Some people may react to the different solvents and/or coolants used. Tools and dies and component parts are very sharp and must be handled with extreme care. Multiple machines are used in the everyday operation of the tool room. Tool Room personnel are responsible for their own housekeeping. Tool makers are often required to work in other areas where hearing protection is mandatory. When they are in these areas, they are also required to subscribe to all safety practices.** **Job may require handling hazardous waste. Candidate shall be trained within the department at a minimum of once per year to properly handle and accumulate hazardous waste in accordance with applicable federal and state environmental regulations and ISE environmental procedures. Training shall be either on-the-job or a handout of written procedures.** **This is a Safety Sensitive position. Job holders will be included in the list of employees who may be randomly screened under our Substance Abuse policy.** **Minimum requirements** **Candidate must serve a state-indentured tool and die apprenticeship and must have 1 year of manufacturing experience** **or have ten years’ experience in the field.** **Operator must possess the ability to do basic math up to and including trigonometry and understand basic geometric functions and calculations.** **Candidate must be able to leave accurate messages for proper tool documentation and repair.** **Candidate must be able to understand and comprehend all tool and fixture language (high school level).** **Candidate must have basic machine shop skills; must be able to run all tool room machinery; to interpret all technical drawings and correspondence; and understand modem punch press principles.** + **Operator must be able to use hands, fingers, wrists, elbows, and shoulders while setting up and running machinery and in the everyday maintenance of tools. All ranges of movement are necessary to complete these tasks.** + **Operator must be able to twist 90° side to side frequently.** + **Operator must be able to bend occasionally at a 90° angle.** + **Operator must be able to see clearly to read measuring and manufacturing tools as needed to perform all tool room activities.** + **Operator must have good hand and eye coordination.** + **Depth perception is used continuously while working with dies, molds, and machinery.** + **Operator must be able to identify cosmetic defects as a standard part of his duties.
