POSITION SUMMARY
Build, modify and repair precision tools and parts using machining equipment and measuring instruments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Work from blueprints, sketches, models or CAD and CAM files to make, create or modify prototypes, tools, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and parts for plant machinery
Calculate and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of work pieces, determine assembly method and sequence of operations required to set up the machine tools
Setup and Operate lathes, grinders, mills, and heat treat equipment to produce tools
Select material to use based on properties, File, grind, and adjust parts so that they fit them together
Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances and finish of surfaces for tools and fixtures using precision gauge equipment
Adhere to 5S standards (e.g., maintain cleanliness of work area, etc.)
Perform all other duties, as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Ability to work independently with a high degree of skill and judgement to perform required operations
Strong mathematic skills, Print, GD&T and high level competency in the use of precision gauge equipment
Ability to effectively communicate with Engineers
Must be able to stand, walk (on concrete surfaces), bend, kneel, crouch, twist, and lift to perform repetitive movements
Must be able to lift/push/pull objects up to 35 pounds, heavier objects require assistance
Ability to adhere to all Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures
Must have working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing (basic oral instructions, simple written memos and instructions)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED Required
Associate degree from Technical school a plus
5 or more years Machining Experience required
