Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Tool and Die Technician, at our Ottawa Manufacturing Plant. The onsite pay rate for this role will be $35.05 an hr.
In this role you will maintain preventative maintenance and repairs on dies and molds in the Ottawa Manufacturing Plant.
Your responsibilities will includePerforms setup, calibration, maintenance, programming and operation on a variety of machining equipment including lathes,surface grinders, drill presses, milling machines, computer numerically controlled and hydraulic presses to assemble and/or fabricate parts and complex assemblies.
Performs Welding (TIG, MIG, and Stick)
Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed
Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces.
Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers Troubleshoots, debugs and modifies to achieve expected performance
Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes
Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements
Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions
Follow 5s standards and WCM, (World Class Manufacturing) methodology
Carries out other duties as assigned
Good understanding of measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges,depth mics, indicators)
Heat treat and temper steels per prints
Follow all lock out tag out procedures
Read and follow Blueprints, Schematics and other technical documentation
Fabricate and weld. (Mig,Tig, Stick)
Minimum requirementsHigh school diploma or GED
Journeyman’s Card OR 5+ years experience as a machinist in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred skills and experiencesCompletion of Industrial Maintenance courses or technical certificate preferred
Experience with metal stamping presses and thermoforming machine molds
Knowledge and understanding of Safety Procedures and Regulations at Whirlpool
Understanding of mathematics (trigonometry, geometry)
Work well on own without direct supervision but able to respond to directions and job assignments
Work well with other employees in a team environment
Locate, trouble – shoot and correct die and mold problems
Flexibility to work long hours and other work schedules as needed
