About Lihir

Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Lihir offers a range of recreational facilities, including a gym, sports club, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a 9-hole golf course. Dimensions

The marine and dewatering maintenance tool store-person is directly responsibly for the upkeep, maintenance and statutory compliance of tooling, lifting gear and high value items with the departments tool store - room. 

Purpose Work with marine and dewatering maintenance personnel to monitor and record tool usage and serviceability.Complete statutory compliance checks on the departments lifting gear and tooling requiring calibration.Report and orders to replenish consumable componentry.Remove from service unsatisfactory and failed equipment.Provide paperwork and paper trails to supply the MRA evidence of equipment maintenance.Submit into SAP, work scopes for supervisor and leading hand planning events.Maintains workshop cleanliness by effectively receiving, sighting and storing planned components for scheduled week event.Essential Duties

 

Safety & Sustainability

Full authority to stop any exploration activity deemed to be unsafe.Tests safety equipment as required after use and removes equipment from service if unsatisfactoryRecords statutory compliance checks and results within SAP. Immediately reorders offending equipment against cost centre.Display behaviour consistent with Newmont Values.

Operational Excellence

Responsible for maintaining store stock levels as required for BAU tasking, allowing for efficient and seamless maintenance activities.Submits into SAP work scopes provided by maintenance personnel for future equipment maintenance

People

Provides direct support to maintenance personnel through providing safe and appropriate tooling.Training & Experience

Knowledge:

Strong computer skills in MS officeExperience in the use of SAP.Class 6 PNG driver's license.Basic hand tool knowledge

Experience:

6+ months in a storeman type positon.

Skills & Abilities:

Keen eye for detail on registered safety equipment.Display strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to effectively communicate with personnel.Strong interpersonal skills.Working Conditions The position is on Lihir at Marine Maintenance.FIFO28/14
