Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

“Rebuild tooling capability in Keller to support testing, tuning, and final production readiness of injection molds.”

Key Responsibilities Repair injection molds by building new and repairing tool components. Support tool shop operations through close tolerance CNC Mill machining operations. Use of Mastercam to program CNC Milling Machines Perform Preventative Maintenance on injection molds. Diagnose tooling issues and suggest solutions to Tool Shop Leader or Supervisor Reduce set up time and machining time through process improvements. Inspection of tight tolerance mold steel components Improve efficiency, reduce costs, 5S, visual factory and support departmental objectives. Independently program, setup, operate and troubleshoot CNC Milling Machines Diagnose tool issues and implement solutions. Perform benchwork such as checking clearances, fits and shutoff surfaces on mold components. Maintains a safe work environment by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Plan machining activities by reviewing work orders, drawing specifications, and materials. Documents and communicates actions, issues, and continuing needs. Experiences/Education - Required Minimum High School/General Education Diploma or equivalent work experience 5+ years of experience with Mastercam (Version X9 and up) 5+ years in tool shop experience (CNC Mills, Surface Grinding, Bench Work) 3+ years knowledge of injection mold tooling through mold building, repair, and design Experience with Microsoft office software (word, excel) Mechanical Aptitude, strong attention to detail Understanding of common tool shop metals, cutters, hardness Good communication and multitasking skills with ability to work independently Hours of work/work schedule/flextime: Mon – Fri 8am-4pm (OT required as needed), some flex time allowed. Experiences/Education - Desired 2 year associate degree in Tooling Technology or Equivalent Advanced trades mathematics. SolidWorks or Creo experience / training Generate tool component drawings via. reverse engineering Knowledge of tool and component handling platforms such as Erowa or 3R Experience understanding and troubleshooting common defects of injection molds. Laser welding

The range for this position is $65,654.00 - $90,275.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
