Tooling Designer Engineer

Develop tool concept / DFM’s with 12-48hrs for commercial evaluation (Prototype tooling to production tools above 4 cavity)
Provide functional mold designs to meet Omega standards and/or client expectations. This incudes client part data issues defined as inadequate for manufacturing the tool or molding the product
Manage design related issues throughout the build process and propose solutions
Monitor design due date, quoted timing and communicate when either cannot be met immediately.
Coordination with Tool Engineering/Design Manager Tooling Team, Clients, Commercial Quoting Program Managers & NPD Team.
Uphold and communicate the purpose, principles, and vision of Omega Plastics and TriMas
Ideally has simulation experience with Moldex
Creates all processes to complete mold design including electrodes/wire and all details to customer design and Omega manufacturability specifications, meeting internal standards and on-time delivery.
Technical interface with tooling personnel and Project Managers for design and manufacture of a mold based on part data provided. (Modify as necessary to meet DFM/part requirements.)
Review new design technologies, design verification process
Directly support other departments as required or any additional items as directed by management, including cross functional role in all other tooling departments.
Awareness of regulatory and customer requirements as it pertains to Omega’s clients; especially for Omega’s medical clients (ref. ISO13485).
Supports third party sourcing of complete tools and components when required
Attends design reviews for all tool kick off meetings
Other work as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or manager.
