Tooling Engineer
Job Title: Tooling Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Tooling Engineer to oversee the design and build of tooling to produce custom parts for Automotive OEMs. This role requires consistent communication with customers to address engineering issues and keep schedules on time. The ideal candidate will manage work orders, routings, ECNs, and BOMs, and adhere to APQP processes and procedures. Responsibilities + Oversee tooling design and build to produce custom parts for Automotive OEMs. + Consistent communication with customers to address engineering issues and keep schedules on time. + Manage work orders, routings, ECNs, and BOMs. + Adhere to APQP process and procedures including FEMA, flow diagram, and control plan. + Act as liaison between Engineering, Die Shop, Quality, and Production teams, addressing any issues with die assembly or part manufacturing. + Assist tool room personnel with troubleshooting production tooling. Essential Skills + 7+ years of Tool & Die Design experience. + 3D Design experience with Unigraphics NX or other CAD packages. + Experience in metals manufacturing: progressive stamping, tooling, or welding. + Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering OR related experience as a die-making journeyman & tool design. + Experience interacting with end customers strongly preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Tool & Die Design experience. + 3D CAD proficiency. + Experience with metals manufacturing, including stamping or welding. + Proficiency in Unigraphics NX. + Experience with progressive die and progressive stamping. Work Environment The work environment includes a balance of office and production floor time. Office work focuses on tooling design and customer interaction, while floor time is spent in the tool room addressing assembly or machining issues that may require engineering changes. The position generally requires 40 hours per week, with occasional extended hours or weekends to meet project deadlines.
