Tooling Engineer
**Job Description:** The Tooling Engineer will report to the Sustaining Manager and will be responsible for the design and implementation of divisional tooling projects, provide technical expertise enhancing existing designs, and will partner with the NPD team on new product launches and production changes. **Duties & Responsibilities** + Focuses on continuous improvement and sustainability of tooling, equipment and processes within the manufacturing team. + Develops and maintains a preventive maintenance strategy to track the status of and ensure the maintenance of new tools. + Establishes and maintains internal tooling standards and implements best practices (including designs, components, spare parts, etc.). + Troubleshoots production issues related to tool trials. + Utilizes data to propose refurbishments, updates, modifications, and repairs to tooling. + Participates in design reviews to challenge tooling designs, provide direction related to new launch tooling, and attends onsite/offsite (vendor) sampling meetings. + Fosters relationships with new and existing tool shops for tooling work. + Visits machine shops as needed to coordinate the repair and modification of tools. + Provides leadership on tooling initiatives + Supports tool room work as needed with the setup, review or maintenance of tools. + Coordinates sampling, metrology, and necessary modifications of new tools. + Defines and supports the execution of Tooling IQ, OQ, and PQ efforts. **Education & Qualifications** + Minimum 5+ years of hands-on tooling, and tooling design experience. + Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering or a related discipline required. + Strong understanding of mold building, raw materials, equipment, and molding techniques. + Ability to mentor and develop personnel. + Strong experience with high cavitation injection tools. + Possesses knowledge of punch integrated tooling, double shot and insert molding. + Ability to perform mold flow analysis. + Knowledge of calculating press tonnage and cycle times. + Ability to travel up to 20% required. **Competencies/Physical Demands** + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crawl; and talk or hear. + The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. **Compensation Information:** This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this role. Compensation depends on relevant experience and/or education, specific skills, market level, other job-related factors, geographic location, and other factors as applicable by law.
