Responsible for conducting general maintenance and repairs on tooling and fixtures. The goal of a tooling repair technician is to maintain the tooling and fixtures in the best possible condition in order to improve production quality and efficiency.

Role and ResponsibilitiesReview Plant Intelligence Center monitors to prioritize tooling (or fixture) maintenance, tooling repairs and tool modifications.Disassemble and assemble molds, analyzes basic mold problemsRepair mold issues due to damage or wearTroubleshoot and identify tooling issues at the press as needed.Responsible for set up and operation of lathes, milling machines and surface grinders.Responsible for interpreting drawings and evaluating machining methods on intricate machining setups.Compute time and materials quote as requested.Complete engineering changes and revisions to molds.Document all related work activityReport immediately to supervisor those problems and unusual situations which cannot be resolved quickly.Safely use forklifts and other equipment needed for job task.Observe all safety requirements including Lock Out Tag Out and maintain work area in a neat and orderly condition.Additional Responsibilities (Machine Process Technician 2)Provide leadership, training and technical guidance to Tooling Repair 1Additional Responsibilities (Machine Process Tech Lead)Demonstrates and cultivates teamwork within the tooling groupProvide leadership, training and technical guidance to Tooling Repair 1 and 2Assist Tooling Repair 1 and 2 with more complex troubleshooting and repairsQualifications and Education RequirementsHigh School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) requiredAssociate’s degree or equivalent experience in tool and die repair or related field preferredMinimum of 4 years’ tooling repair experienceAdditional tooling experience listed in table belowMust obtain and maintain a valid forklift license to hold positionAll required WilbertU Courses based on job titlePreferred SkillsAbility to troubleshoot tools and secondary fixturesProficient in performing welding on many different materials.Ability to use shop math, precision measuring instruments and read blueprints.Proficient in trouble shooting tooling issues that arise and able to take action in solving them.Ability to effectively communicate information to other employees and other departmentsStrong problem-solving skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions.Additional Notes

Tooling Repair 1

Description

Entry level.  Developing technical expertise

Experience

>3 years’ tooling experience

Knowledge

Has a basic understanding of tool and die repair. Expected to spend the majority of time learning and developing tool repair and troubleshooting skills.

Job Complexity

Performs basic tooling repair tasks. Able to resolve routine issues.

Independence

Introduced to a task and the steps needed to complete, can drive a task to completion independently.

Character

Shows initiative and is motivated to learn.
