To build and repair all types, sizes, and shapes of jigs, fixtures, tools, gauges, and dies. Assemble and try out complete tools and dies, trouble shoot tooling for repairs and modifications.
RequirementsPrimary Duties and Responsibilities Include:
· Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.
· Welds parts as required.
· Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gauging tools, performing required inspection before, during and after machining.
· Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies.
· Uses hand tools of the trade.
· Able to manufacture simple components utilizing manual machine tools.
· Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies.
· Tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same.
· Assists other tooling personnel in the repair and maintenance of tooling and equipment.
· May work with product designers and customers providing input to manufacturing capability on newly formed products.
· Understands and works with hydraulic circuits and components.
· Repair variety of dies and cavities meeting accuracy requirements determining techniques and making decisions on metals, allowances, mechanism detail, fit and assembly.
· Attention to detail in performing work, checking work, and documenting to assure quality, under the supervision of the designated associate.
· Works in a safe and efficient manner with good housekeeping practices
· Able to utilize PLEX system to view, follow, and document work instructions.
· Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Working knowledge of ISO/TS16949 IATF standard
· Proficient in Core Quality Tools - APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC
· Problem Solving tools such as 8D, Is – Is not, Cause and Effect, etc.,
· Ability to effectively interface and communicate with customers
· Ability to manage people and projects
· Excellent written and oral communications skills to successfully communicate with people at all organizational levels
· Knowledgeable in training techniques
· Effective interpersonal skills, including listening and persuasion
· Experienced in quality system and process audits
· Working knowledge of Six Sigma concepts
· Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
· Data collection and statistical analysis; Minitab preferred
· Knowledge of processes used in manufacturing facility, customer facilities, and supplier facilities
· Knowledge of lock-out tag-out safety procedures.
· Knowledge of TIG welding practices.
· Knowledge of pipe design and cutting NPT threads.
Requirements
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Minimum Three years of experience in tooling trade.
Physical Demands
· Standing and walking, occasionally for long periods, within manufacturing facilities
· Sitting and typing at a computer
· Often required to pick up and handle parts (more than 20 lbs)
· Required to lifting steel and swing hammers and beater bars ( approximately 25lbs).
· Required to look at parts and see processes/operations
Work Environment
· May require entry to confined spaces to perform welding operations.
· Confined spaces may be hot and with dim lighting.
· Office environment at workstation
· Typical manufacturing environment when on shop floor
o Elevated noise levels
o Elevated temperatures near ovens and in summer
o Proximity to moving equipment
