The Tooling Department at Orora is a vital part of our operations, supporting all our sites across Australia and New Zealand. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a highly respected and critical department within the business. Key Responsibilities

As a Machinist (Tool Maker), you will report to the Engineering Manager, working Monday to Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Your key responsibilities will include:

 

Precision tooling: Work to exact specifications and produce high-quality parts. Operate a range of metalworking equipment, including grinders, jigs, fixtures, manual and CNC machines, to meet precise tolerances. Make, maintain, and repair tools and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. Read and interpret drawings. Test and modify manufactured articles. Collaborate with engineers and production teams to solve complex manufacturing challenges.

 

 

What We Are Looking For 

A formal trade qualification in toolmaking or a related engineering discipline. At least 5+ years of experience in a toolmaking or machinist role, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Strong proficiency in operating CNC machines. Studied drawings and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to overcome manufacturing challenges. An eye for detail and a passion for producing high-quality, precise work. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and communicate clearly across teams. Be passionate about safety and keeping everyone safe by following safe work practices and safety procedures. Willingness to learn and grow in the organisation. Willing to undertake a pre-employment medical which includes drug & alcohol testing.
