You will be a Senior Toolmaker with our team in Archbald, PA. Lockheed Martin Archbald is a full-service Missiles and Fire Control facility that provides design, manufacturing, engineering & field service support for both domestic and international customers.



What You Will Be Doing
As a Senior Toolmaker, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Study blueprints, sketches, models, or oral and written specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies
• Sets up and operates conventional or computer numerically controlled machines such as lathes, milling machines and grinders to make, repair or modify dies, jigs, gauges, tools, production and prototype parts for all programs
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators
• Maintains workstation/cell in organized manner and in compliance with any applicable safety standards
• Receives and, when assigned, provides cross-training for other tasks related to department functions and procedures
• Interprets CAD data, prints and sketches with regard to fabrication and can follow written and/or verbal instructions
• Recommends and executes changes to achieve process improvements and/or cycle time reductions
• Performs minor preventive maintenance to equipment
• Works in time-critical situations in a dynamic, team-oriented environment where programs, setups, and tooling are constantly changing and interact effectively with associates & management as priorities shift
• Performs other job-related duties as required by management
• Physical condition allowing:
a. Lifting 50 pounds
b. Standing, sitting, bending, walking, 10+ hours per day
c. Personal protective equipment including Steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hearing
protection, and wearing a respirator when required
• Participates in the development or redesign of tooling and fixtures to improve quality or reduce costs
• Collaborates with other personnel to train or teach various machining or set-up techniques to obtain proficient use of time and produce quality parts
• Provides technical support to Manufacturing personnel when necessary
• Provides feedback on prescribed processes, fixturing, and tooling to ME to optimize efficiency
• Adheres to safety guidelines and the correct procedures for performing tasks to prevent personal injury or damage to product and/or equipment

Basic Qualifications:
• Tool Maker’s certificate or equivalent experience/combined education and 5 years of experience in tool room environment
• Able to work safely with cleaning chemicals and solvents
• Knowledge of properties of metals, shop mathematics and layout, machining, assembly and brazing procedures as related to Tool Room type work
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
• Knowledge of threading and use of sine plate
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
• Proficiency in CNC programming, set up and operation of CNC milling machines and lathes
• Able to work from sketches, drawing and blueprints as well as oral or written specifications and be able to plan the order of successive operations, install and adjust cutting tools and other machine components, adjust and/or position the work piece or material, by utilizing such devices as V-blocks, angle plates, etc.
• Design of jigs, fixtures, and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products
• Skilled in the use of all types of gauges and precision measuring instruments and must be able to adjust machines and verify dimensional accuracy of the machine functions
Desired Skills:
• AutoCAD and/or 3D modeling experience
• Experience in set up and operation of CNC horizontal machining centers
• Experience in set up and operation of CNC lathes
• Ability to work in a team environment; Good interpersonal, teaming and communication skills
• Good oral and written communication skills

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
