Position Overview
The general role of a Tower Foreman - Wireless Services is to safely and efficiently complete equipment installations, repairs, and upgrades at communications sites both on the ground and at elevated heights without direct supervision. In addition, the Tower Foreman will be responsible for leading and mentoring a team of up to 6 members. This work will be performed in both commercial and industrial locations.
This individual will represent Pillar Innovations in a safe, professional, and courteous manner. This position will require a flexible schedule which may include extensive travel, extended hours, weekends, and holidays.
The Tower Foreman will report to the Construction Manager – Wireless Services and will work primarily out of their assigned location.
What You'll Do Build customer infrastructure, such as tower erection, expansion, and upgrades to new and existing wireless networks (e.g., tower mods, L&A installs)Read, interpret, and edit site documents such as Construction Drawings, Radio Frequency Data Sheets, Structural Analyses, Mount Analyses, Tower Modification Design Drawings, etc.Safely and efficiently complete equipment installations and upgrades at elevated heightsIdentify, troubleshoot, and correct equipment and network functionalityObserve and report possible compound/equipment defects or hazardsDocument job costs, including labor hours and material in an accurate and timely mannerAccurately follow instructions and complete assigned course of action in accordance with scope of work and methods of procedures (MOPs)Complete Material Inventory upon deliveryPerform pre-work and post-work site auditsObtain written customer approval for any change ordersOperate Test Equipment (RF Sweep Gear, PIM, and Fiber Testing)Train and mentor Wireless Services team membersPerform and oversee site work activities as required or directedAssist management in scheduling of labor, materials, and other job tasksDevelop and execute rigging plans for hoisting operations per industry standardsLead and mentor a team of up to 6 members and participate as an active team member in work being performedAssist Wireless Services Management on all aspects of project execution and completion including timely documentationAssist Wireless Services Management in writing reports from field observationsEnsure that projects are completed on schedule while maintaining quality controlPerform tower structural mappings, inventory mappings, maintenance inspections, and site auditsProvide ongoing feedback to management regarding employee performance, production, and placementProvide feedback and input for employee performance reviews What You'll Bring 5+ years of experience in the wireless communications industry with the capacity to understand and manage multiple projects, multiple customers, and personnel preferred with at least 4+ years of experience installing and maintaining cabling, antennas, microwave dishes, tower builds, site inspections, lighting systems, wireless carriers preferredValid Driver’s License requiredAbility and attitude to follow rigid job safety standards and properly utilize specialized Personal Protective EquipmentPossess strong problem resolution and customer interaction skillsPossess or obtain OSHA 30 Training Certificate within 6 months of hire or promotionMaintain certifications for courses such as: Authorized/ Competent Climber, Authorized/Competent Rescuer, ANSI A10.48 Rigging Certification, Capstan Operations, RF Awareness, OSHA 10, First Aid/ CPR and other certifications as requiredKnowledge and ability to perform tower structural mappings, inventory mappings, maintenance inspections and site auditsProficient in operating test equipment [i.e., RF (radio frequency) sweep gear, PIM (passive intermodulation), and fiber testing]Read, understand and implement tower rigging plansCompetency and ability to deploy complex rigging setups (2:1, 3:1, etc..) to hoist heavy loads safely to the towerStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenFluency in English is requiredProficient computer skills and ability to use software applications including Microsoft SuiteWillingness to take on and learn new tasks and skillsAble to work independently and as a member of a teamWillingness to work in extreme environmental conditionsFamiliarity with general accounting/costing practices including budgeting, invoicing, purchase orders and accounts payableFamiliarity with general accounting/costing practices including budgeting, invoicing, purchase orders and accounts payablePossess demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to supervise a team of up to 6 technicians
Working Conditions
