Job Summary
Entry level toxicologist position to support Scent ingredients, as well as support other IFF businesses as needed.Specific Responsibilities Include:
Responsible for the toxicology support of Scent (i.e., fragrance) ingredients, as well as the support of other IFF businesses as needed. Provide toxicology and risk assessment support for Scent ingredients used across numerous markets through close cooperation with different functions, including product stewardship, commercial, marketing, regulatory, and R&D. Review new and existing products and processes, as well as develop recommendations on required and appropriate toxicology data collection and research. Requires interfacing with business R&D and Commercial/Marketing functions to define appropriate information needed to support safety based on business plans, development opportunities and R&D objectives.Develop toxicology testing plans to support registrations or defense of ingredients or products across regions. Provide advice and testing strategy for global chemical regulatory requirements (e.g., EU REACH, USEPA TSCA, Canadian DSL) for purposes of product testing and registration. Compose toxicology and risk assessment sections of regulatory registration dossiers, e.g., EU REACH, US Pre-manufacture Notice, Canada New Substance Notification, etc.Translate complex toxicological information into recommendations and clear messages for a wide range of scientific to non-scientific audiences. Incorporate toxicity and exposure studies to estimate the level of risk that could result from exposure to a known concentration of a chemical to support new product introductions, or to support registration dossiers. Monitor GLP toxicology studies to ensure compliance with the appropriate protocols, guidelines, and sound scientific practices. Participate in Competent Authorities' meetings as an expert representing IFF Business units. Provide issue management support for products and substances across key external stakeholder groups through active participation in trade associations and via advocacy with governmental agencies. Represent the company on multiple trade associations (e.g., IFRA, etc.) and industry consortiums.Provide support for customers on toxicological inquiries.EXTERNAL FOCUS:
Expected to spend up to 10-15% of time external to the company supporting business customer interactions, trade associations or interacting with government officials.PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Broad toxicology work experience and skill set with expertise in developmental and reproductive toxicology a plus.Expertise with New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) and/or Computational toxicology is a plus.PhD or MSc degree in Toxicology or Pharmacology.This is an entry level role.Experience or practical knowledge in an industry sector (Scent, Personal Care) a plus.Excellent written and oral communications skills; fluency in the English language.Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.Very good organization, and project management competencies.Position may be remote.We are a global leader in taste, scent, and nutrition, offering our customers a broader range of natural solutions and accelerating our growth strategy.
