The Trackless LHD Operator is accountable for the safe operating of the LHD ensuring compliance with established daily production targets as assigned i.e. Longhole stopes, Development ends, etc.  The LHD operator is responsible for ensuring optimal care when operating the vehicle and to especially monitor and attend to roadways that may compromise tyre life.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Grade 12 or Equivalent LHD (LH 514) Certificate At least 2 years’ experience as a LHD Operator Dover A result Drivers licence Secure full Gold Fields Security and Related Occupational Screening Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre and pass a Heat Tolerance Screening test, and such other tests as may be required to assess the applicant’s suitability for employment

 

Key Competencies:

 

Established personal safety delivery record Strong inter and intra-team collaboration skills Sound spoken and written English communication skills Completion of a machine appreciation awareness programme (O4R/M4R or equivalent) Ability to cope with ambiguity with high personal resilience and change adaptability Established problem-solving skills

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

Maintains Safety, Health and Environmental practices according to standards and procedures Does a pre-use inspection on this equipment by means of a checklist and report deficiencies to supervisor Performs basic maintenance on equipment e.g., top up engine oil-, water- and hydraulic oil, check for oil leaks and clean equipment according to standards and procedures Performs end of shift procedures according to standards and procedures e.g., parks the LHD at the designated area, cleans equipment and reports to supervisor Performs any other activities necessary for the effective completion of his/her work
