ABOUT THE POSITION

Traction Power Engineering Lead | Any VHB Office

 

VHB is seeking a Traction Power Engineering Lead to join our dynamic growing Transportation practice across the East Coast. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transit infrastructure traction power projects and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group.

 

Ideally candidate would be hybrid out of one of VHB’s offices. If meeting all preferred qualifications, potential option for remote within VHB’s footprint.

 

Responsibilities

Manages the planning, analysis and final design document preparation for traction power/station distribution, facility power, signal power and security systems on several types of transit infrastructure projects including, but not limited to transit/rail, solar, EV charging stations, lighting, high and low voltage distributionExperience/expertise with design drawings and documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, calculations, and studies associated with transit and rail traction power systems, including load flow analyses and computational analyses for power systems both AC and DCManages power engineering design services and solutionsClient relationships, visibility, and business development a plusDirects and mentors team members in the development of design plans, technical oversight, specifications, design calculations, load ratings, cost estimates, reports, final bid packages, etc.Project management/task managementReviews plans, specifications, reports, and analyses to meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements

Skills and Attributes

Extensive knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in traction power engineeringDemonstrated excellence in verbal presentations and technical writingTeam oriented with strong capability to work independentlyRobust technical and critical thinking skillsDetail oriented and quality focusedStrong project management skillsMotivated to lead and mentor others

Qualifications

11-15 years of experience in traction power/systems engineering required15+ years of experience preferredExperience in electrified railway substation and power distribution systems design (AC and DC) requiredBachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or related field of study required, Master’s preferred Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in New York City is $140,000-205,000. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
