Summary This position is located at the West Point Golf Course. Responsibilities Incumbent operates a field-type tractor with attached and towed equipment. Plans the order in which work is to be accomplished; transports materials and equipment; and digs, loads, plants, clears, mows and dispenses liquid and solid materials. May operate under different or extreme conditions such as mud, snow, and areas where trees and shrubs present operational hazards or on uneven ground where skill and expertise are required for safe operation. Performs maintenance on field-type tractors and attached and towed equipment. Makes multiple connections between the tractor and attached or towed equipment. Adjusts the equipment for job requirements such as setting the height of mower blades, depth of plow blades, and the rate of application of sprayer attachments. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications 1. Applicant must have 1 year of related experience in operating tractors and associated equipment, and performing maintenance on equipment (ex. identifying when regular oil changes are needed, checking tire pressure, etc.). 2. May be required to obtain a Government motor vehicle operator's permit. 3. Must have and retain a valid Driver's License. This experience must be reflected on your resume to be considered eligible for this position AND proof of valid Driver's License will be required prior to appointment to position. Skills and Knowledge: Must have skill and knowledge in the operation of the tractor and manipulations of equipment controls while compensating for rough terrain features such as steep hills, ravines, holes, and ditches. Must have skill in operating slope mower tractors and attachments and steering to compensate for degree of slope and stability of the ground. Must have the knowledge to perform operator maintenance on tractors and equipment. Education Additional Information Note: Candidates with Special Qualifying Skills and Experience may be brought in higher than the Step 1 rate of pay, determined by the Hiring Manager. FWS Allowances and Differentials This is a federal wage schedule (FWS) position. All FWS employees are entitled to overtime work for work in excess of 8 hours in a day or in excess of 40 hours in the administrative workweek, whichever provides the greater benefit to the employee. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Non-Foreign Overseas Allowances Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
