Introduction

We are seeking a Trades Assistant to join our Service Operations Support team. You will be responsible for assisting a team of trades carrying out Field Service Repairs, Inspections and Metso equipment shutdowns. 

Your role plays a crucial part in ensuring the Metso services provided to our clients are delivered to a high standard. You will become certified to Metso’s Training Program and applicable standards as required. 

This position will be based from our Newcastle location. Our team culture is positive and we work well together. 

In this position, you will report to the Senior Manager, Service Operations – APA East.

What you’ll do

Assist a team of trades completing maintenance to Metso equipment.
Assist with performing Digital inspections and NDT (Non Destructive testing) in compliance with client, industry and company standards and policies.
Have an interest in digital tools and gaining experience using ECA (Eddy Current Array), UT (Ultrasonic Testing).
Ensures all equipment is setup, always calibrated and functional in alignment with client and company procedures.
Conduct housekeeping duties in the immediate work area and surrounding areas.
General maintenance tasks as instructed by qualified trades.
Prepare post site visit reports, time sheets and expenses after site visits in a timely manner. 
Promote Metso products and services to customers.

Who you are

Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role within a mining or heavy industrial environment.
Experience using hand tools and power tools.
Forklift ticket desirable. 
EWP ticket desirable. 
Working at heights training desirable.
Confined space ticket desirable. 
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to undertake repetitive work whilst maintaining high attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively with other employees, both verbally and written.
Positive and proactive approach to safety.
Ability to travel to remote areas for extended periods of time at short notice.
