We are currently recruiting for a Trade Assistant who will report directly into the Supervisor – Mine Maintenance,  this role is being offered on a 7:7:7:7 roster. In this role you will be responsible for providing mechanical support to all trades personnel working on the Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) fleet, along with the maintenance of the supporting infrastructure and fixed assets.  The Trades Assistant is required to ensure maintenance activities are completed in a safe, efficient and effective manner, maximising the amount of scheduled maintenance and minimising the impact of unscheduled works through quality and effective workmanship.

 

A day in the life of a Trades Assistant may include:

Assisting trades in the diagnosis and rectification of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasksAssisting trades in executing scheduled servicing on HME, including the mobilisation of equipment for in-pit servicesCleaning of machinery, components and subpartsAssist in the operation of the tool storeAssist with the supervision of contract personnel, ensuring work is carried out safely, efficiently and effectivelyContribute to the site Continuous Improvements programme, including safe and productive improvements practices within the work area.Liaise with warehouse and tool store personnel to obtain necessary parts and tooling, and the return of items Assist with the inspection and change out of ground engaging tools (GET) within the AHS pit environment.

 

About you:

You will have basic mechanical aptitude and ideally have previous experience in a mechanical workshop and in the operation of mobile equipment.  It will also be advantageous if you have previous experience with GET inspections and replacement.
