You as Trade Control Analyst is responsible for ensuring the legal and regulatory compliance of all international import shipments. You will collaborate with internal logistics teams, external freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure that all documentation is accurate, duties are correctly calculated, and goods move through customs efficiently. You will report to the Vice President of Trade Control – Imports & Exports, this role supports operational units by addressing regulatory issues, developing training materials based on risk assessments, liaising with CBP, validating customs powers of attorney, and conducting internal audits of Kuehne+Nagel U.S. Customs Brokerage operations and bonded warehouse facilities (both CFS and Class 3).
**How you create impact**
+ Conduct internal audits (onsite and remote) of Kuehne+Nagel U.S branches in accordance with Trade Control policies and procedures
+ Generate and track Trade Improvement Plans (TIPs), including analysis and reporting
+ Collaborate with national customs brokerage teams to gather documentation and support corrective actions
+ Identify compliance gaps and recommend preventive measures to local and regional management
+ Monitor and ensure timely closure of audit findings and action items
+ Draft comprehensive audit reports aligned with QSHE standards
+ Participate in internal meetings and external trade seminars as needed
+ Vet and validate customs powers of attorney in line with CBP best practices
+ Review and update policies and procedures; develop support materials for operational teams
+ Maintain records and draft reports related to violations and corrective actions
+ Respond to inquiries on import regulatory compliance via phone and email
+ Develop and manage computer-based training modules using Captivate and internal systems
+ Deliver training sessions to operational staff and management and provide occasional after-hours support
+ Travel as required for professional development and job-related activities (Within US)
**What we would like you to bring**
+ Bachelor's degree in a related field such as supply chain management, logistics, international business, or economics is often preferred
+ 3+years of experience in trade compliance, customs brokerage, or the freight forwarding industry
+ Professional certifications such as a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Licensed Customs Broker is highly valued
+ Strong working knowledge of trade regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR, OFAC), HTS classification, and other government agency (OGA) requirements
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail are necessary for conducting audits and interpreting complex regulations
+ Proficient in ACE Portal and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
