Trade Exports, Sr. Associate Reference #20434 Waterdown, Ontario About the Role Prepares agreements in accordance with federal regulations to support International business initiatives, including: employment of foreign persons, manufacturing abroad, and sourcing and development relationships with foreign entities. Interprets governmental responses and provides guidance to stakeholders. Establishes and maintains relations with government licensing authorities to ensure the company's position on licensing and technology is conveyed, understood and accepted. Analyzes business initiatives per regulatory requirements and advises divisional management on compliant execution of activities. Conducts training sessions for employees and assists in developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal regulations. Develops and conducts audits of internal controls and procedures by examining artifacts to ensure compliant transactions. Supports external audits and inquiries from US governmental control agencies such as Customs, DoS and DoC through data gathering and corrective action execution. Influences product development decisions through technical jurisdictional analysis to support business strategies in a compliant manner. Primary Responsibilities + Work with internal / external stakeholders to obtain supporting documents, draft and submit Canadian Export and Brokering permit applications and U.S. Export, Re-export and Re-transfer license applications. + Monitor Canadian Export / Brokering Permit, update internal stakeholders of permit status and update EXCOL with quarterly and semi-annual reports. + Monitor, review and release blocked shipments and determine if a valid export authorization can be used to release the shipment in the ERP system. + Support with the management of Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA), Warehouse Distribution Agreements (WDA) and Technology Control Plans (TCP). + Validate Export Classification and Jurisdiction of purchased and manufactured items (i.e. ECCN, USML, ECL, BCL, CGP) with support from Engineering, Procurement and IMS Segment classification teams + Conduct Restricted Party Screening (RPS) for all L3HARRIS Wescam business partners. + Support L3HARRIS E3 - Continuous Improvement initiatives, such as developing and updating business process, training materials, reports, and ERP improvement projects. + Support implementation / compliance with L3Harris policies / procedures, U.S. and Canadian Import/Export control laws and regulations. + Assist with trade compliance investigations, risk mitigation, audits and self-assessments. Required Capabilities + Knowledge of L3Harris WESCAM products and export control status + Ability to build strong relationships with people at all levels. + Must have good organizational and time management skills. + Must have good verbal and written communication skills. + Requires keen attention to detail, with the ability to learn and comprehend detailed laws and regulations. + Perform duties with minimum supervision, and participate in cross-functional projects as assigned. + Proactive problem solver, action and results oriented with a willingness to see things through to the end. + A team player who is comfortable working with other professionals. + Ability to work efficiently under pressure and to tight deadlines. + Willingness to take on project ownership and accountability. + Comprehensive understanding of Canadian import/export customs regulations + Proven track record as customs / trade compliance professional familiar with various modes of transportation, INCOTERMS + Comprehensive understanding of the Canadian and U.S.A. export regulations, including: + Canadian Export & Import Permits Act (EIPA), + Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), + U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and + U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
