GENERAL FUNCTION: Performs defined essential duties and responsibilities within the Global Payments Trade Services Group per the Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits ("UCP") and/or the International Standby Practices ("ISP") and within the published processing standards. Serve as a team lead and subject matter expert within the group and to internal/external customers, advising on the risks associated with the product.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues, and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Boarding Review

Acts as the Team Lead and logs all work into Access database and assigns to Trade Service Professionals as appropriate according to transaction degree of difficulty and skill set of Trade Service Professionals.

Independently reviews and release issuance and payment documentation as presented by TSP's 1&11 for letters of credit ensuring all required documentation and approvals are obtained. This entails approving letter of credit language which can be complex in nature, second checking of documents and approving payments which require independent decision making abilities. Payment approvals can be routinely in large dollar values.

Acts as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the team to answer questions and help support the other TSP's

Helps prioritize the department work and are held accountable for SLA, which in cases of priority clients can be extremely aggressive(in by 3.30pm and out the same day)

Reviews the booking of IRB letters of credit ensuring all required documentation and approvals are provided and that data is entered accurately within the Banktrade letter of credit system.

Insures participation sold details are recorded accurately and promptly in an Access database and that fees are shared as outlined within the Participation Agreement and credit memo.

Provides guidance to Relationship Managers on fees sharing as well as the process for handling standby payments under participated transactions.

Reviews requested letter of credit terms and language for workability, communicating both verbally and in writing with in-house legal counsel, external legal counsel, corporate client, and/or beneficiary to structure letter of credit language citing relevant, supporting, letter of credit rules and law.

Negotiates with all parties involved to mitigate the bank and corporate client's risk.

Assists, guides and communicates effectively with internal and external customers regarding documentation required for issuance, amendments, payments, drawings, etc, explaining with precision the overall letter of credit process.

Insures proper review of Office of Foreign Assets and Control ("OFAC") list is performed and that parties are not listed on the government's Specially Designated Nationals ("SDN") list.

Investigates complex billing issues and resolve appropriately

Provides sound and accurate advice and guidance to internal and external customers regarding international practice, rules, regulations, trends, risks, laws

Lead/participate in focus groups to ensure that procedures are current

Special projects, reporting, and duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Trade Operations preferred

CDCS qualified/preferred

Extensive knowledge of the UCP, ISP, UCC, URC 525 and the URDG 758.

Extensive knowledge of the Banktrade letter of credit system.

Advanced knowledge of the letter of credit interface to AFS and corresponding discrepancy reports.

Thorough knowledge of all products within Trade Services Operations.

Understanding of all applications and systems used by Trade Services Operations, any underlying interfaces, processes for escalating issues, and individuals responsible for each area/application.

Thorough understanding of all business partners and their roles and an advanced ability to foster a positive working relationship with those business partners (i.e. Global Financial Institutions, Solutions Delivery, Global Trade Sales, Global Funds Transfer, Resource Team, Relationship Managers, Portfolio Managers, etc).

Advanced understanding of syndicated loans and/or participations and ability to interpret letter of credit information from syndicated/participation agreements preferred.

Advanced accounting and reconciliation knowledge (i.e. a thorough understanding of accruals and amortizations).

Ability to appropriately escalate issues as necessary.

Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced, stressful, team environment.

Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience with Microsoft Office products, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
