Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Four years of full-time experience in a trade under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. This position may be filled from a mandatory reemployment list if one is in effect at the time of appointment. Candidates may be expected to be qualified to use negative pressure respirators. Valid New York State driver's license required.
OPERATING NEEDS:
Journey-level experience as a locksmith; ability to re-key and service key cylinders, repair locksets, install and maintain all types of commercial & industrial hardware; strong background in the electrical field and the ability to troubleshoot and repair electric access control systems; working knowledge of the carpentry trade and the ability to troubleshoot and make repairs to doors and frames; ability to use hand tools, power tools, key cutting machines and any equipment and material of the craft or crafts to which assigned; Understanding of and implementation of the ADA (American with Disabilities Act) regulations for commercial entrances and door hardware; ability to maintain current University keying and hardware standards, understand and use computerized work management and key tracking systems; ability to clearly communicate to supervisor and other employees; ability to cover university events such as closings and openings as well as emergency calls; valid NYS Driver's license required.
