About the role
Reporting to the Supervisor – Electrical Site Services, the Tradesperson – Electrical Site Services is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various non-process equipment critical to New Porgera Limited’s (NPL) operations. This includes systems across camp accommodation, offsite villages, commercial kitchen equipment, refrigeration and air conditioning units, and water/sewage treatment facilities. Ensuring strict adherence to safety and operational standards, the Tradesperson plays a vital role in supporting the functionality and efficiency of NPL’s facilities.
In this role, you will:
Perform installation, maintenance, and repair tasks for a range of non-process equipment, including camp accommodation, offsite villages, commercial kitchen equipment, and refrigeration, air conditioning, and water/sewage treatment facilities Follow instructions from the Electrical Supervisor or Foreman to complete tasks efficiently and safely Ensure compliance with PJV’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all associated procedures Use risk assessment tools (e.g., JHA, FLRA, Take 5) to identify and mitigate workplace hazards Uphold Barrick’s DNA and Core Values while fostering effective communication with team members and other departments Uphold high standards of health and safety awareness, ensuring compliance with NPL’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all safety procedures.
About You
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:
Essential
PNG Electrical License registered with PNG Power Trade qualifications compliant with NATTB Electrical Trade standards In-depth knowledge of AS/NZS electrical standards and wiring rules Current light vehicle driver’s license Ability to work shiftsDesirable
Trade qualification or experience in refrigeration and air conditioning Maintenance experience in mining, oil & gas, or heavy industry environments.
Mobilization Requirement
This is a PNG Local Staff position based onsite with a Walk in – Walk out arrangement on a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (arranged after the interview stage), and provide a Police Clearance Certificate issued within the last 6 months.
