**Position Description:**
Safely performs journeyperson level tasks in the fabrication, construction, maintenance, alteration and repair of fixtures, equipment, structures, buildings, and built-in components for Texas Tech facilities. May supervise subordinate employees.

**Major/Essential Functions:**
+ Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC energy management systemsInspects, calibrates and tests electronic temperature control, alarm notification and time devices.
+ The role involves monitoring computerized energy management systems to optimize energy conservation and ensure compliance with performance standards, quality, and regulations.
+ Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC energy management systems and fire alarms. Inspects, calibrates and tests electronic temperature control, alarm notification and time devices.
+ Performs renovation and new construction tasks.
+ Assists Tradesperson Leader in maintaining records of materials and labor expended for each job assignment.
+ Assists Tradesperson Leader in assessing job materials requirements and prepares requisition for materials from supply warehouse or vendor.

Compensation will be based on the knowledge, skills, abilities, and defined years of experience to align with the appropriate career levels for the Tradesperson specialty in the Operations Division Facilities Maintenance Career Plan.

**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ General knowledge and ability to perform inspection and repairs of air handling units, chilled water and heating water pumping and distribution components, and energy management systems.
+ Working knowledge of operation and safe use of power and hand tools/equipment common to the heating and air-conditioning, environmental temperature control field.
+ Must meet minimum physical fitness requirements for this position. Must pass pulmonary function test and be certified or able to wear negative pressure respirator.
+ Must be able to follow written and/or verbal instructions. Must be able to clearly communicate and/or take instruction via radio or phone.
+ Must be familiar with the use of a computer(to look up parts, enter notes in TMA work orders, etc.)
+ Must be a motivated self-starter capable of working with little to no direct supervision
+ Must perform skilled work and understand the theory and applications of pneumatic and electronic temperature control devices and their relationship to the function of high volume air-conditioning systems
+ Proficiency in written and mathematical skills as may be reflected in the completion of high school or equivalent.
+ Three years experience in designated trade or licensed journeyperson.
+ Technical training courses including, but not limited to, the HVAC mechanical field preferred, but not required
+ Minimum three years on-the-job, hands-on, experience related to pneumatic and/or electronic environmental controls and associated components for commercial/industrial high volume air-conditioning.
+ Documented, position-related, vocational training or education can be substituted for the required experience.
+ Basic knowledge and/or experience in the installation, maintenance or troubleshooting of building automation systems such as Metasys or Struxureware
