Michael Baker International, Inc. is seeking a Traffic Engineer to work on its Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) General Consulting Engineer (GCE) contract at the PTC Central Administration Building (CAB) in Middletown, PA. This position will work daily from the PTC CAB and will require travel on an as-needed basis to fulfill the completion of assigned projects. Michael Baker International, Inc. (Michael Baker), a top engineering firm, is searching for a registered professional engineer with a background in traffic engineering and transportation project and program management; preferably with the PTC and/or the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). Through the GCE contract, Michael Baker assists the PTC with policy and process improvements, quality assurance, performance management, program management, capital program delivery, and budget development and oversight. In addition, the Michael Baker staff is utilized for its engineering technical expertise on a broad variety of issues to support the PTC in the areas of transportation design and construction, facilities management, operations and maintenance, and information technology.
Collaborate with PTC staff from various Departments daily to identify areas of need and potential solutions. The successful candidate will interact regularly with PTC senior management and technical staff to fulfill client requests and project assignments while gaining tremendous exposure while performing a variety of work, facing new challenges daily, and making a positive organizational impact while working in a positive and forward-thinking environment. Lead tasks and assignments from the Traffic Engineering & Operations Department (TE&O). Develop scopes of work and budgets for corresponding GCE work tasks. Collaborate with Michael Baker Assistant Program Managers to staff GCE work tasks. Manage the execution of work tasks as assigned, which will include continued assistance of the 10-year capital program delivery, highway and pavement asset management, and other support projects and tasks as needed. Field views to verify or collect data in association with task responsibilities. Preparation and/or quality assurance reviews of task-related deliverables, such as formal reports, informal white papers, and databases. Independent reviews of technical project deliverables in the project delivery process, such as PS&E packages and milestone reports. B.S. in Civil Engineering or B.A. in Transportation Planning or a related field from an accredited university. Minimum 6-8 years of experience in transportation project and program management. Registered PE with a background in traffic engineering and transportation project and program management; preferably with the PTC and/or the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). The candidate must be self- motivated and work well within a team environment to plan and execute contract projects-both on schedule and within established budgets. The approximate compensation range for this position is $82,326 to $129,663. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
