About the Position: The Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), a life cycle management command is headquartered at Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, a 38,000-acre installation that is home to over 60 international, federal, and Department of Defense organizations. It is a major subordinate command of the Army Materiel Command. Responsibilities Conduct studies involving the functions, resources, program objectives and performance of the organization and related traffic management activities. Develop new procedures to promote effective management of command traffic management activities. Conduct analysis and studies on operational problems, policy, procedures and systems changes as related to traffic management. Represent Division and provide briefings at meetings and conferences on matters relating to transportation and traffic management of the command aviation/missile programs. Specialized Experience Statement (HR/SME): I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes; (1) exercising transportation planning involving the determination of traffic management objectives and establishment of procedures and methods of achieving them for execution of transportation programs to deploy missile/aviation materiel world-wide; (2) advising missile/aviation materiel shippers of policy or major operating problems that require technical competence in developing and assessing the broader implications of the solutions on a Command wide basis; (3) developing and coordinating Transportation Plans with Army Material Command (AMC) Headquarters, Surface Distribution & Deployment Command (SDDC), overseas theaters, project managers, supply and logistics officials, supply depots, and other transportation elements as required to accomplish delivery of peculiar traffic management program requirements; (4) evaluating results for the purpose of determining the adequacy of traffic management programs and operations and making recommendations to ensure maximum availability of transportation equipment and facilities. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Decision Making Flexibility Oral Communication Planning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required.
