Examples of Duties + Assembles signposts, hangers, and cuts sign blanks for street and traffic signs. + Lays out designs and applies sheeting to traffic sign blanks and markers. + Applies billposters to small billboards. + Installs fixed or portable traffic signs by bolting hangers to existing poles or installs new poles in sidewalks or ground. + Digs holes with air hammers, hydraulic tools, and post-hole augers. + Cements new poles in place and removes discontinued signs. + Loads and unloads materials from and drives sign installation trucks, as required. + Builds signs, hangers, or posts from new or reclaimed materials using metal or woodworking machines or hand tools. + Performs minor maintenance on sign shop equipment. + May perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Qualifications (required): + High school graduation or GED. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted to meet the education and experience requirements of this position. Qualifications (preferred): + One (1) year of experience manufacturing and erecting signs.
