About the Role

BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) is Australia's largest Coal producer with currently Five Operational Mine sites and a Coal Loading Port in Central Queensland. As the world's largest Seaborne Coking Coal supplier, and part of the BHP group, BMA is uniquely positioned to offer experience and career development opportunities difficult to find elsewhere.

Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor and Crew Development Supervisor at BMA Hay Point Terminal, we are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Trainee Maintenance Worker - Rigger. This traineeship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience and develop essential skills in various areas of maintenance rigging work. As a trainee, you will receive hands-on training and mentorship to help you succeed in your role.

Location:

This is a residential position with no FIFO option. Only residents within the Mackay Region will be considered. You will be employed at the BMA Hay Point Coal Terminal Site, working a lifestyle roster of 4 days on and 3 days off, from Monday to Thursday. Some overtime and shift work will be required as part of traineeship.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Assist with general maintenance tasks and repairs. Gain practical experience in intermediate rigging and dogman duties. Learn to operate and obtain Forklift, Elevated Work Platform, and Crane Licences. Obtain a Heavy Rigid (HR) Truck driving licence. Support Maintenance Trades in daily maintenance activities. Always follow safety protocols and guidelines. Obtain high-risk work licences, including Working at Height and Confined Space. About You

To Be Successful in Our Traineeship, You Will Have:

A strong interest in maintenance work and a willingness to learn. Ability to work well in a team environment. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks and activities. A valid driver's licence (preferred but not required). Demonstrated experience or ability in a similar hands on role.
