Reports to: Legal Counsel
The Trainee Solicitor role is to provide support to the Group Legal & Compliance Department and gain hands-on experience in various areas of legal practice. The incumbent will have the opportunity to develop legal skills and knowledge by assisting with legal research and analysis, drafting, and preparing for and attending meetings with both internal and external stakeholders. This role is designed to give the incumbent a well-rounded understanding of the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced and interesting industry, and prepare the incumbent for a successful in-house career with Cathay.
Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop expertise in specific areas of law such as corporate, regulatory, commercial, litigation, employment law and personal data and privacyAssist with legal research and analysis, and draftingPrepare for and attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including commercial negotiations and settlement discussions, and court/tribunal hearingsMaintain detailed records and documentation for assigned matters and projectsCollaborate with the legal team to provide efficient and high-quality legal adviceAttend training sessions and workshops to continuously expand legal knowledge and skillsRequirements
